14TH ANNUAL TROMADANCE FILM FESTIVAL ROCKS ASBURY PARK, NJ!

Posted on April 18, 2013

Once famous for its legendary rock & roll concerts, the city Asbury Park, NJ was rocked by two nights of truly independent cinema at the 14th Annual TromaDance Film Festival last weekend! It was standing room only at Asbury Lanes where TromaDance founder Lloyd Kaufman presented a first class line up of films including shorts from countries all over the world, a work-in-progress of the latest Troma Team production "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume One," Magnolia's "Evocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie," and the cult-sensation "Birdemic II: The Resurrection." Audience members were also able to pose questions to the filmmakers during three explosive panel discussions with Lloyd Kaufman and crew of "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume One," Jeremy Newberger and Seth Kramer of "Evocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie," and Master of Romantic Thrillers James Nguyen, director of "Birdemic 2: The Resurrection!"

"We are proud to have continued our tradition of, first, bringing fans a festival where they can watch great films for FREE, and second, providing an excellent selection of artful, truly independent films, many of which might have been over looked by mainstream festivals," said TromaDance founder Lloyd Kaufman. "I'd like to thank our loyal fans and the people of Asbury Park, NJ, home of Tromaville and the Toxic Avenger, for their continued support of TromaDance and independent art!"

The filmmakers, too, have weighed in on their experiences at the 14th Annual TromaDance. "I had a great time at Tromdance 2013! Great film festival! Happy Birdemic! Happy Tromadance!" said James Nguyen, director of "Birdemic 2: The Resurrection." "TromaDance makes the Star Wars bar scene look like a Norman Rockwell barbershop," added Jeremy Newberger. "ÉVOCATEUR: THE MORTON DOWNEY JR. MOVIE" fit right in! We give TromaDance two cold dead thumbs up!"

Next year, TromaDance will celebrate its 15th year and will continue its time honored tradition: IT'S ALL FREE! Couldn't make it to TromaDance? Check out these exclusive pictures:

SECRET SCREENING OF "RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH"!

Posted on April 10, 2013

The TromaDance Selection Committee is proud to announce that Troma Entertainment will hold a secret screening of the latest Troma Team production "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume One" at the 14th Annual Film Festival at Asbury Lanes, in Asbury Park, NJ at 8PM on Saturday, April 13th. "Though we do not normally screen Troma movies at TromaDance," says TromaDance founder Lloyd Kaufman, "we decided to hold this secret screening in response to the thousands of requests we have received from our fans who have supported Troma for 40 years and TromaDance for 14 years."

More on "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volume One":
"Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol. One & Two" is a satirical sci-fi comedy event film with themes ripped straight from today's headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world's food supply, rampant bullying, love triumphing over prejudice and LGBT rights. The film, a revisiting of Troma's 1986 "Class of Nuke Em High" is in the same vein as other classics such as "Class of 1984," "Rock 'n' Roll High School," and "Carrie," but seen through the unique vision of Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team. Welcome to Tromaville High School where, unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a vicious gang of Cretins. Chrissy and Lauren, two innocent lovers-bloggers, must fight not only the Cretins, mutants and monsters but also the evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate. Will they save Tromaville High School and the world?
